A top UK official is warning US media giant Comcast, the new owner of British satellite TV operator Sky News, to mind the independence gap.

The no-nonsense message comes just two weeks after Philadelphia-based Comcast won a fierce back-and-forth battle for Sky Plc, the parent company of Sky News, edging out Twenty-First Century Fox in a rare three-round auction.

UK culture minister Jeremy Wright said he will do what is necessary to ensure that Sky maintains editorial independence.
