President Trump called House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi late Tuesday to congratulate her on the Democratic takeover of the House of Representatives.

“He acknowledged the Leader’s call for bipartisanship in her victory remarks,” Drew Hammill, her deputy chief of staff, wrote on Twitter.

In her victory speech, the veteran California lawmaker talked up a “bipartisan” Congress where Democrats had a “responsibility to find our common ground when we can, stand our ground where we can.”

“We’ll have a bipartisan marketplace of ideas that makes our democracy strong,” she said.
