After seven years, the wait for a new Strokes album is nearly over.
At a New Year’s Eve show at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, the New York rock group debuted a brand new track, “Ode to the Mets,” which will appear on a forthcoming record. Frontman Julian Casablancas told a packed stadium: “We’ve been unfrozen and we’re back.”
“Yeah, we’ve got a new album coming out soon. 2020, here we come,” said Casablancas. “The 2010s, whatever the f–k they’re called, we took ‘em off.”
Alongside bandmates Nikolai Fraiture, Albert Hammond Jr., Fabrizio Moretti and Nick Valensi, the “Last Nite” singer continued, “If you really love someone, you’ll be frozen with them. You know what? I don’t know what I say generally, and I ramble a lot, but I love you guys, and it’s a real honor to share the stage and this night with you guys.”
