They’ve taken it to the limit.
An Eagles’ greatest hits album has edged out Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” as the bestselling album of all time, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.
“Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975” has sold 38 million units since its release in 1976, while MJ, whose 1982 opus was previously No. 1, has sold 33 million.
The early career retrospective includes mellow, country-rock hits such as “Take It Easy,” “Already Gone” and “Take It to the Limit” — but not the group’s ubiquitous “Hotel California,” or much in the way of bad-boy guitarist Joe Walsh, who joined the group at the tail end of ‘75.
