In case you missed it, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) spoke on the future of Social Security, saying there’s not enough political will in Washington to make the necessary adjustments to fix the retirement safety net.

However, she was willing, of course, to take on the fight and make some minor adjustments to age requirements and other things.This is exactly what irks people outside of Washington.She knows the problem — knows that it is a problem — and yet offers no real solutions.

I get that entitlements are the third rail in politics, but there has yet to be one politico with gumption enough to seriously take on Social Security and do what regular people do every day with their own retirement savings: Manage and invest. The right policy and a bona fide commitment to increasing the Social Security payout — without raising taxes — is a clear election winner.
