After a one-year stint in New York, the Recording Academy is returning to Los Angeles’ Staples Center Sunday for the Grammy Awards 2019 broadcast.

Even before the show starts, it’s obvious that hip-hop and female artists — from Kendrick Lamar and Drake to Cardi B and Brandi Carlile — dominate the “Big 4” categories (Album, Record and Song of the Year, and Best New Artist), which have been expanded from five to eight nominees.
