Stocks finished modestly higher on Monday, with just a little over a week to go until a highly anticipated interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve.
The Dow (INDU), which was the only major stock index to trade in negative territory for some of the day, managed to get back into the black on Monday. The index closed 0.1%, or 18 points, higher.
The S&P 500 (SPX) finished up 0.3%, putting it just 1% below its most recent record closing high. The Nasdaq Composite (COMP) closed 0.7% higher.
President Donald Trump, who has long criticized the Fed for its monetary policy, again tweeted his displeasure on Monday.
